VEHICLE DEPRECIATION EXPERT REPORT
The Importance of Expert Appraisal Reports in Vehicle Depreciation
Vehicle depreciation refers to the decrease in a vehicle's market value after an accident. This can lead to significant economic losses, especially in the used car market. When vehicle owners want to sell their vehicles after an accident, the value of the vehicle decreases significantly when buyers learn that the vehicle has been involved in an accident in the past. At this point, expert reports are of great importance in determining the vehicle's depreciation and in the process of obtaining compensation for this loss.
An expert appraisal report provides an objective and technical assessment for determining the depreciation of a vehicle. These reports are usually prepared by independent experts and analyze the vehicle's condition before and after an accident in detail. The appraisal report considers criteria such as the vehicle's market value before the accident, the quality of repairs after the accident, the originality of the spare parts used, and the overall condition of the vehicle. This allows for a precise calculation of the vehicle's depreciation.
Expert reports play a crucial role in legal proceedings. Vehicle owners present these reports as evidence when claiming compensation for the decrease in vehicle value after an accident. Courts and insurance companies determine the amount of compensation based on these reports. Therefore, impartial and detailed reports ensure a fair assessment for both the vehicle owner and the other party involved.
Furthermore, expert appraisal reports are an important tool in protecting the rights of vehicle owners. By proving the decrease in the value of their vehicle after an accident, the vehicle owner can claim compensation from the insurance company or the insurance of the party that caused the accident. The expert appraisal report serves as the basis for this claim and facilitates the process of compensating the vehicle owner for their losses.
In conclusion, expert appraisal reports are of great importance in determining vehicle depreciation. These reports provide both a technical assessment and serve as evidence in legal proceedings. Expert appraisal reports are indispensable for vehicle owners to avoid suffering losses after accidents and to receive fair compensation. Therefore, it is crucial for vehicle owners to obtain an independent and expert appraisal report after an accident to document the vehicle's depreciation.

To the Presidency of the Insurance Arbitration Commission
History: 01.07.2024
Subject: Claim for Vehicle Depreciation Compensation
Dear Sir/Madam,
On June 20, 2024, while driving my vehicle in Kadıköy, Istanbul, I was involved in a traffic accident. My Ford Focus (license plate 34 ABC 123) sustained significant damage as a result of being struck by a Toyota Corolla (license plate 34 XYZ 456). Following the repairs and maintenance work, my vehicle's market value has significantly decreased. Expert assessments and reports have determined that the vehicle's pre-accident market value was 250,000 TL, while its post-accident market value is 240,000 TL. This represents a loss in value of approximately 10,000 TL.
My application for compensation for the depreciation of my vehicle, submitted to the insurance company, was unsuccessful, and my request was rejected. Therefore, to remedy the injustice I have suffered and to receive compensation for the depreciation of my vehicle, I feel compelled to apply to the Insurance Arbitration Commission. In accordance with my request, I demand and request that 10,000 TL be paid to me as compensation for the depreciation.
All necessary documents related to my application (accident report, expert report, photos from the accident and after repairs, correspondence with the insurance company) are attached. I request that the necessary action be taken.
Kind regards,
Ahmet Yılmaz
