DEFENDANT:
Population Registry Office – Ankara Population Administration

SUBJECT OF THE LAWSUIT:
The request is for the correction of the population registry records by adding the missing middle name.

EXPLANATIONS:

  1. My client's daughter , Zeynep Ela , has been registered in the population registry with only the name "Zeynep," which is incomplete . However, since birth, my client's child has been known and called "Zeynep Ela" within the family and social circle . The omission of the name "Ela" from the registration is an error resulting from carelessness, and it has become necessary to apply for its correction.
  2. This omission in the population registry leads to a discrepancy between the child's identity in official records and their social environment. To prevent future legal and administrative problems, the child's name in the official records be corrected to "Zeynep Ela," .
  3. Article 36 of the Population Services Law No. 5490 and Article 27 of the Turkish Civil Code No. 4721 , it is a justifiable reason to ensure that the name by which a person is known is consistent with the name recorded in official records. Supreme Court precedents also indicate that the name by which a person is known within their family and social circle should also appear in official records.
  4. Because the child is commonly known in society as "Zeynep Ela," incorrectly writing the name could lead to official problems in the future regarding school, health, and passport procedures . Therefore, correcting the name is necessary to ensure that the records reflect the actual situation

  1. Identity register copy
  2. Witness statements
  3. Other relevant legal evidence

WITNESSES:

  1. Name and Surname – (Turkish Republic Identity Number: …) – Address

LEGAL GROUNDS:

Article 27 of the Turkish Civil Code No. 4721, Article 36 of the Population Services Law No. 5490, and related legislation.

CONCLUSION AND REQUEST:

For the reasons explained above, I respectfully request and demand that the court correct my client's daughter's name, which is recorded as "Zeynep" in the population registry, to "Zeynep Ela" by adding the name "Ela, " and that the court costs and attorney's fees be borne by the opposing party.
